Eagle Ford

We were an early entrant in the Eagle Ford, acquiring our interests through leasehold acquisitions. But it wasn't so much the acreage we had as what we did with it that has made Eagle Ford our flagship program. Transferring our success from the Haynesville, including our growing competencies in horizontal shale drilling and completion techniques, and leveraging knowledge from across our operating divisions, we made the Eagle Ford our premier program. Focusing primarily on the oil and liquids-rich areas in La Salle County, we quickly improved our efficiency and productivity, reducing per-well capital costs by 16 percent and drilling cycle time by more than 35 percent. The result? The EP Energy team quickly turned the Eagle Ford Shale into one of our key development areas and a major success story.
